For 50 grand cash, I will agree not to apply for a job at the University
of Colorado.  I am also open to offers from other universities,
foundations, and so forth.  Given the stuff I say, I think this is a
reasonable offer.

Of course, if the boss were to pay me $400 thou to go away, at 5%
interest, that would only be $20 thou per year.
