PS. Remember the whole "Weimar Russia" genre of
Western reporting in the early to mid 90s to the
effect that Russia was about to fall into the hands of
evil ultranationalists any moment, so we have to
support the heroic democrat Yeltsin who is the only
thing keeping the country from barbarism? Notice how
that almost all melted away immediately after the 1996
presidential campaign in Russia? That's because it was
Yeltsin PR fed to Western media outlets to get foreign
support (Yeltsin having a 2% approval rating at home).
In reality those ultranationalist groups have almost
no support in Russia. They were and are skinhead
gangs, most of whose members are in their teens, and
no more likely to take power than the Michigan Militia
is.

Yeltsin had the Western press corps wrapped around his
little finger.
