Incidentally, Russians tend to view Republican
administrations more favorably than Democratic ones.
Nixon (images of whom crying in front of a monument to
the Siege of Leningrad were broadcast all over the
USSR) gave them detente; Carter brought the boycott of
the Moscow Olympics; Reagan, after the first hawkish
period, brought arms control agreements; and Clinton
bombed Serbia.
