Re: The Chechens US friends

Ken writes:

Louis cloaks himself in high-sounding Marxist flourishes, but, really,
under it, it is a kind of "hyper-liberalism." You also used the more
famous Lenin term of "infantile leftism." Same sort of thing. But the
former is a bit more accurate because Louis doesn't even try to
associate himself with anarchists and Trots. He is just some guy with
a job at Columbia who has a list with the name Marx in it and uses
those two things to snipe through email. (I know LP from quite a ways
back, when he was somewhat more personable.)

When I was a member of his list, I noted one thing: He wrote about
"the mass protests" and would talk about various rich males in his
neighborhood coming out to join the protest. That was about all of his
"personal connection" to people in a political way that I read. (Other
than stuff about Tecnica from the mid-80s.

Response Jim C: I see all these cyber-revolutionaries making all sorts
of comments about people they have never met even going so far as to
characterize what someone else's level of commitment and experience must
be. Also, on these lists, I see all sorts of "analysis" of what is going
on in East Timor, Chechnya, Kashmir, Palestine etc, but see virtually no
or little comment on the ongoing genocide against Indigenous Peoples
right here in America and Canada right under the noses of these
cyber-revolutionaries, often even on the lands they are occupying.

Well Louis Proyect doesn't just write about Indigenous issues. He has
been deep inside Blackfoot Country twice and is highly respected by the
Blackfoot he met. Many Blackfoot warriors who met Louis, some of whom
detest some of the pompous non-Indigenous lefties and cyber-warriors who
have so much to say about forms of oppression everywhere but where they
exist, and seem bent on "making/supporting" revolution everywhere but
where they exist or it is actually going on, immediately trusted and
liked Louis and respected his willingness to come a long way, at
considerable expense and personal risk, to actually learn (and not just
talk and write) and help us with our struggles. He has done the same
with other Indigenous nations and I can attest that he has seen the
inside of Blackfoot Country that few "outsiders" are ever allowed to see
and he has met with trusted Elders that few "outsiders" are ever allowed
to meet.

Ken simply does not know what the fuck he is talking about. I have seen
Louis close up in situations far beyond the safe comfortable keyboards
and offices many of us write from.
