The US gave Maskhadov's former foreign minister asylum
a couple of weeks ago (he was quoted in a typically
lame NYT article called "Chechen Rebels Motivated
Mainly by Nationalism" or something like that -- like
there's something nationalistic about trying to
conquer the Caucasus or something. Whatever, I blame
it on the ignorance of whoever wrote the headline).
Members of Maskhadov's government had torture chambers
under their homes.
