Ford to end second shift at suburban St. Louis plant

Ford Motor Company . . . has . . . of course contract agreements with the
autoworkers union. These agreements govern the amount of jobs at any given
moment and market contractions. In Union Speak there are specific agreements
that govern the corporations obligation to pay for workers laid off through
the "job bank program" . . . and or technological changes in the laboring
process.
This is not as interesting as the senseless murder of 400 children in North
Ossetia and the taking of 1400 hostages by political terrorists . . . but it
means the lose of wages for 1000 people . . . unless the provision of the
contract are militantly imposed.
The specific behavior of the company means . . . the penalty in money
charged to the company for job losses between contract negotiating years.
OK ... this involves legalism and company and union speak . . . but what is
understood by the American worker is work and wages. The Company cannot just
lay you off and take your wages and there are a zillion provisions to
protect your wages.

CB: Yea, Shaniece was telling me that in a recent layoff at Ford Romeo
Engine, the people were covered by job bank for a long period.
