My point was that Chechens aren't black.

There were two demands, the fake one and the real one.

1. The fake one. "End the war in Chechnya!" Unless
they were idiots (always possible) they must have
known this was impossible, since they are the reason
the war in Chechnya exists.

2. The real one. Release of captives seized after the
Ingushetia raid, when they shot up and hacked to death
a bunch of Ingush cops (what a great way to liberate
the Caucasus -- kill Caucasians!) and about 20-30
civilians.
