As an aside, I am really amazed at how the Western
media have managed to spin what is a tiny group of
criminal elements and fringe ultranationalists and
fundamentalists who pretend to speak for a Chechen
people that hates them into a "popular resistance
movement." It is quite an amazing exercise in
ignorance and willful stupidity. Quite stunning. (One
of my favorites of this hack work is called "Che
Guevaras in Turbans." Chechens do not wear turbans.
They wear lambskin hats. What, is Chechnya in the
desert all of a sudden?)
