Why did USSR fall ?
Charles B:The USSR didn't fail economically,
did it ? It failed politically.
Chris D.: Well, a lot of Soviets were
dissatisfied by their living conditions, especially the intelligentsia. Soviet
consumer goods did tend to suck.

standard of living in the SU was higher than most countries in the world, no ?
The standard of living fell after the fall.
Who ,exactly,
overturned the old system ? They weren't claiming that they were doing it to
raise living standards.
