Re: liberals
Much of this discussion that seems to be overly predictable. Kerry has
hardly been a hero for the left, especially considering that he comes
from a fairly safe state. Bush is terrible from any reasonable
perspective.
>From an electoral point of view, the basic question seems to have two
parts. Would voting for Kerry move the country in a positive direction
or would just confirm and reinforce the continual democratic move to the
right? Would another four years of Bush be such a disaster that he must
be stopped at any cost? Certainly, Nader's would be a more attractive
president (not necessarily candidate) for us than either of the two
major candidates.
Attacking Nader does not seem to be particularly helpful. Repeating
Kerry's already known negative policies does not seem to be particularly
helpful, although adding new information to the list of defects can help
us maintain perspective.
I think that we could make a modest contribution. I mentioned that I
was in a small forum on Wal-Mart. Yesterday I received a very nice
letter from one of the Wal-Mart workers, who had supported the company.
She still supports the company, but is open to dialogue.
In any case, let's try to avoid rehashing the same ideas hoping that a
repetition will somehow convert someone else. It won't. It just won't.
