Re: Psychoanalysis Re: "happiness is a transitory state"
Joel Kovel, Stanley Aronowitz and other left figures have written about their "breakdowns" in their early books. . .stuck in that limbo abyss between the official views & practices of the world (psychoanalysis with Kovel, the union movement with Aronowitz) and their emergent selves. . .many of us have been there, as we fought the sedimented histories of pathology all around us, and in us. Shaking, crying, vomiting in release from its hold on us, or, alternately, turning the anger inward, which is so much of depression. . . .
We all need a lot of help from our friends and families to make it through. . .call it what you will, support, solidarity, noise-reduction (Aronovsky). . . and, at base, a radical practice to march out the buried rhythms of our rage. . .as writers, activists, parents, teachers. . .
In Solidarity,
Brian
