the late Isaac Deutscher described the situation as follows: it's as if a man (a Jew) jumps out of a burning building to save his life -- and lands on his neighbor (a Palestinian).
one thing has to give: ethic nationalism should be abolished. I know that ethnic nationalism is justified for oppressed nationalities such as Palestinians, but in the end even such nationalism needs to struggle to abolish the reasons for national oppression -- and thus the basis for its own ideology.
