Melvin P< Comment This is why I am not an environmentalist, although without question some will be won to the cause of communism. Man pollutes the earth because he is polluted and not the other way around. Man is not polluted because the earth is polluted, although this is an appearance form. This polluted man who pollutes the earth is described more than less in what I write from the standpoint of the mode of production in material life. The mode of production is not an equation but a conception of components that makes society a society. As such nothing in real life is reducible to the mode of production, while society is shaped and formed by the biological entity called women and man. Engels correctly describe his and Marx methodology not as an equation but as a conception - the materialist conception of history. He is very clear in expressing this materialist conception. If one were examining thinking - as opposed to its form, where would one begin? Science generally begins with the brain and this is just as wrong as viewing the heart as a pump and not a valve. The lungs actually function as pumps, although this cannot be proven to one who earnestly believes the opposite. What determines the power of observation or thinking, for our species is the cleanliness and purity of blood. Cleanliness is actually next to Godliness and we are learning this the hard way. Only a polluted man is capable of polluting. The power of observation is made manifest in a context - a society, after society emerges. The development of what we generally call science is viewed on the basis and in the context to the evolution of the mode of production. Science can be understood to mean the study and application of the laws that govern process. My point is that we are not limited just by a given state of development of the material power of production and the property relations within - the production of the material means to support life and how these products are exchanged, but also victimized by our blood. The historic battle wage by our species to defeat scarcity - before society exists as such, is transformed into the battle to control scarcity with the emergence of property. The scarcity that our species has faced is not an abstract concept of things, but rather the crisis - tragedy of nutrition. Here is why we have eaten anything edible, which really means eating what can be eaten. The quest is for nutrition. Here is the heart of the matter and the knowledge basis of the human ingenuity that shall lift us from prehistory to history. This battle for the life of the mind is being blocked today because of the property barrier. The communist revolution is the most radical in human history not simply because of the technological underpinning and its evolution that compels society to leap forward from one political basis to the next - with the property relations within, and finally to liquidate property, but because of the subjective factor that roughly correspond to the objective historical process. The historic scarcity has been flushed into the open for all to see and it is a question of the quest for nutrition. The paradox is simple. Polluted man has polluted - distorted sense perception, and has to a large degree lost the ability to tell right from wrong. As a society we have lost the ability to discern color and its meaning. We see the destruction of say the Amazon forest without understanding that green cannot be destroyed without tampering with the oxygen of earth. We no longer remember why an apple is red, the purpose of vegetation and why our species are fruit eaters - not vegetarians. We attribute the growth of insanity and murder in society to unexplainable forces and end up embracing the metaphysics of properties. It is wrong to eat flesh. Only one that eats flesh can keep eating flesh. Flesh eating is not a spontaneous biological impulse but arises in response to scarcity - the quest for nutrition. Drinking a glass of milk is an act of insanity and we are told that this is a source of nutrition: "Got Milk." The only biological impulse for milk is for mother's milk. The genuine science of nutrition has been housed in religious doctrine. There is a reason why health culture and eating has always been a matter of religion, for the body and soul cannot be separated. There is a reason why in our species history the "Priests and Physicians" were generally the same person. Man has to constantly eat - consume, to stave off the horrible pain caused by elimination of the poisons accumulated in the stomach and throughout the body. Here is an elementary way to understand the "entropic trap." There are things human beings cannot do and remain humane but the issue appearance form is SUV's, nuclear power and "development." To the bourgeoisie the issue appears as sustainability. When it is suggested to examine feces most comrades simply do not understand the issue or what is being stated. We assume our current state of being is more than less normal and this is not true. Man has to constantly eat - consume, to stave off the horrible pain caused by elimination. Bourgeois production - production for production sake, is a process no different from consuming to stave off the pain of elimination or being eliminated from history. The problem of entropy is the bourgeoisie. Sustainability is a reactionary bourgeois conception. Posing the question as the limits to sustainability does not grasp the issue at its origin or root. The issue is not the energy infrastructure, but the property relations that reproduces the structures that reproduce the deadly entropic discharge and how this evolved and took shape in human society. The answer is the metabolic breach that occurred in the historic battle against scarcity and scarcity is not a thing but biological craving - the crisis of nutrition. Our species won the battle against scarcity and its fundamental resolution almost one hundred years ago. Not because society advance to an abstract stage of machine development and energy use but because of the growth of science - knowing. Mankind choices have been made under harsh conditions of fighting to survive due to our ignorance. Today we are not as ignorant as yesterday. The decay of the earth is great but decay cannot be defeated by fighting decay. Decay can only be defeated by shattering that which reproduces the decay in a widening scope. The reproduction of the widening scope of decay is not the result of creating technology, but the property relations as it evolved in the fight against scarcity and began continuous reproduction on the basis of the metabolic breach that comes from eating anything edible. For instance the development of nuclear power plants is not an abstract development of science or the positive fruits of knowing but a property relations and proof of a profound metabolic breach in man. Only an insane man can conceive of - much less create, a meat packing house. A clean unpolluted man cannot go in a meat packing house because his senses will not allow him. Drinking coffee - which I enjoy, destroys the earth and is a property relations - a class configuration of the polluted man. Clean human being require very little stimulants. One can go down a list of everything our society consumes - eats, and the conclusion is obvious. Ninety percent - perhaps even 98%, of everything we eat reinforces the destruction of the earth. That is to say the current configuration of society and its energy needs is not an arbitrary thing but a property relationship, reproducing the metabolic breach. We have not yet entered history and cast off our prehistory. We only can create this history on the basis of what we have inherited - not as we please. We have been plagued by other historical process logic. The entropic trap cannot be escaped without the shattering of bourgeois property and healing the metabolic breach. The question - entropic trap, has been posed in its appearance form. Melvin P. |
