Why is the left so bloody silent about the blatantly obvious issue in the
2002 election: the Electoral College? Gore defeated Bush in 2000. Simple
fact. The Electoral College, an intentionally anti-democractic and utterly
indefensible and outdated institution, seated Bush anyway. The left,
meanwhile, is just as much sucked into petty Floridian details as the Demos.
Talk about self-defeat! We could absolutely clobber the right with this in
such simple and easy terms, yet we're stuck talking about debatable fine
points and important but secondary technical issues in Florida.

I certainly agree that the Electoral College is an outdated institution and would add that it was a facade erected by aristocrats to keep the commonfolk from having much say. But as to current race it's off topic. Physically turning people away from voting booths is not a secondary technical issue except, perhaps, to official Democrats. I stand by my statement.
