I don't think it is such a bad analysis, really, except that it is from an
investor's point of view and therefore reactive, i.e. socio-economic events
happen, and then you adjust your portfolio holdings. Which is the modern
conception of government action as well: price movements create certain
outcomes, and then you adjust your budgets.
The modern slogan is, "go and do something, young man, so we can make money
out of you." Which is why so much bourgeois culture is a wank.

What makes people like Soros or Gates more interesting is that they actually
want to make socio-economic events happen (I don't say I agree with Soros on
many questions, I don't obviously, but he's more an investor with attitude,
he is less likely to invest in Israeli imperialism although I am not sure of
all the connections there).

Peter Gowan is a bright guy, his analysis is pretty damn good, except his
Pommie ac language can be bloody awful. I admire him a lot, actually, the
fact he kept going with it over the years, I value people like that, even if
Louis Proyect hates them.
