Ehrenburg gradually began to shift his writings into a
more openly pro-Soviet direction. He wrote about
European peasants, blasted Poland's authoritarian rule
and France's racist colonialism. He undertook a series
of stories and novels exposing the greed of noted
wealthy entrepreneurs. The Life of the Automobile
focused on Andre Citroen, Pierpont Morgan, and Henry
Ford.
