That's because yes, there is a significant difference in attitude of
this faction of the ruling party, though not really in results. The
differences are little more than mere window dressing, which is not to
say I don't want Bush and his gang of splendid beasts to go down in
flames, nor that the differences don't mean even more misery for those
on the wrong end of the stick.
Still, did Carter help to murder more people in his days in office
than dear George has? Let's see, the Anointed One helped Somoza
sustain his rule to the bloody end, costing tens of thousands of
lives, generously enabled dear General Suharto to slaughter Timorese
by the acre by supplying him with the necessary weapons, supported the
Shah (his "dear friend") in his sadistic rule, helped to set in motion
the near-complete destruction of American unions, refused to accept
Haitian refugees fleeing from the bloodthirsty Duvalier, who said that
we owed no debt to Vietnam because "the destruction was mutual", etc.,
etc. Compared to Carter, Bush is a piker, and I would say further,
far less efficient at providing for long-term class warfare than
Clinton was.
