Maybe it will get out of auto, the way US Steel got out of steel. Nothing says we have to manufacture anything in this country. At least not until we annihilate the unions root and branch, and American workers have to cross the Rio Grande at night seeking a better life in the Mexican maliquidoras, where there are jobs. jks

Back during the Clinton administration, there used to be some businesses that were in favor of a move in that direction. It sure would make sense from a capitalist class perspective to socialize both medical care and pensions -- though these would likely be financed by regressive taxation.
