Re: Provocation
Well, as far as I can see all is not science that is
theoretical knowledge. Philosophy is not science. In
this sense, social sciences and physics have no
difference in kind, but in degree, and I agree with your
dissertation. There are different degrees of knowledge;
to some of these degrees we give the name of science and
to others not and not all of us agree with these names.
Praxis is my criterion. I have not a rigorous
theoretical background, but I am a psychotic and I know
that psychoanalysis works in certain cases, though drugs
are also useful to me. As for Freud, what he called
science Popper did not recognise as such, as far as I
know. Tell me, do you think medicine is a science? I do
not, but others do.

rote a 400+ page doctoral dissertion arguing that there a
re no differences in kind between the so called natural a
nd the so called social sciences, only differences in deg
ree that are no greater than the differences between the
so called natural sciences themselves. Biology is not tha
t similar to physics either! However, if you want to disc
uss this this, tell me what you have in mind. As for psyc
hoanalysis, Freud is quite clear that it's not just thera
py but a body of theoretical knowledge.
