I think that Jim was right on target.  Even if you want only mild liberal
improvements in society, you need some wild eyed radicals in the street to
move things along.  As we have noted many times on the list, more radical
changes occurred during the Nixon administration than in any other postwar
administration, yet Nixon may have had radical inclinations, but he was
certainly not a leftist.
