Don't Look to the UN for Resistance
Re-Colonizing Iraq

I think that is right.

Monopoly capitalism is so interpenetrated that Europe could not represent a
separate bloc to the ambitions of the USA. It can only represent a
different imperialist policy to that represented by a US administration.
These are policy differences within imperialism.

But this is really also an indication that the economy of the world has
moved on from imperialism to ultra-imperialism.

Anti-Americanism is therefore futile as a strategy. The battle is around
different degrees of legitimacy, and around the relative strength of
currency blocs.

The confirmation this morning that British troops are to take part under
French leadership in a peace making mission in north east Congo is perhaps
more significant about how the two powers can cooperate together and get
credibility, (and keep friendly fire to a minimum) than about how many
Congolese they will kill. It may be a small sign of contention with the US
as the world's policeman.

We cannot be certain how the flow of international capital is going to go,
but East Asia could develop around the renminbi as a trading bloc to rival
US hegemony, and the Chinese are calculating and tactical enough to do this.
