right. But it's not a monopoly, either. The critics of the "free market" ideology often voluntarily accept this kind of vision, saying stuff like "I think that the government needs to play a larger role because of externalities, etc.," sticking with the market-vs.-government framework. (This ideological construct isn't all wrong: it makes sense it terms of competition among capitals and other political fractions, within the context of the capitalist mode of production, which is taken as given.)
