[PEN-L:31532] authoritarian schools (was: Autism on the rise)

Title: authoritarian schools (was: Autism on the rise)

It's true that schools tend to be excessively regimented. But for what it's worth, that's exactly what's turning my 12 year old son on to education. As someone on the autism spectrum, he's gone from having LOUD tantrums almost every day at school to getting A grades and being proud of it.

We can't generalize from his experience (though this may be possible if autism becomes truly prevalent), but it's also a mistake to generalize too much from our own personal experiences.

K-12 US style was, for me, like a concentration
camp. University wasn't so bad since so much time
was spent away from it.
