A massacre, but all too predictable. Bali, a
Hindu part of Islamic Indonesia. Bali, the place
where many monied westerners, notably
Australians, go on vacation. And the bombers most
likely noticed just how quickly the conservative
government of Australia got on the US bandwagon
for bombing Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Philippine government was boasting
of dealing effectively with its own Islamic
militants and separatists, quite proud of the
US's aid and training. And then those militants
wiped out a platoon of Philippine soldiers.

Prime Minister Mahathir of Malaysia warned that
bombing Afghanistan and then making threats
against Iraq was not going to prevent more
attacks in the near future. And he was once again
quite right.

Do I have anything positive to say about it
all?You would have to convince the US government
(and its key allies in the phony war against
terrorism) that so far they have been more wrong
than right, and it is time to start listening to
the Islamic countries about what to do.
