I loved my students. This is the thing I miss the most about
academe. There was this student in one of my classes: he was not
only obnoxious but also not so smart and we disagreed on almost
anything including math. He even kept disagreeing with me while I
was trying to teach. Of course, I did not hold him up as negative
exempla for mocking but he was such a hopeless case that I had no
choice but to ignore him for the benefit of the rest of the
class.
Now, we can summarize the above into the following theorem:
Sometimes, it is best to ignore people you disagree with.
