[PEN-L:30171] Re: Unnecessary damage from the World Trade Center

This morning on Democracy Now, Juan Gonzalez made an interesting claim
regarding the pollution fallout from the World Trade Center.
The rush to open the stock market put the city and others into a box so
that they had to underestimate the danger from the pollution from the
World Trade Center, putting the health of untold numbers at risk.

Not surprising, allow me to share the lofty words of Hank Paulson, CEO of Goldman Sachs, which were broadcast over the company's internal voicemail system on 9/13:
"I want to say how very proud I am of our people, the people of Goldman Sachs, for working courageously around the clock to ensure our clients were well cared for...
And what the people of Goldman Sachs couldn't do by land, we (note pronoun change) did by sea..."
A private bus was licensed to transport people (mostly senior execs from the upper east side) to work (at 85 Broad Street) on Thursday. When the police stopped the bus, as per Giuliani's instructions, the 'people of GS' enlisted the police as escorts, concluding it was more important for police to escort GS employees to their offices than to focus on the rescue effort. Another GS group chartered private ferries to carry people from NJ into lower Manhattan.
