I think it is quite inaccurate to call it a cave-in; that implies that
the Democrats are cowardly friends of progress. That is simply not true.
They are reasonably courageous friends of what "progress" means to the
Wall Street Journal.

Any real left that might come into existence in the U.S. _has_ to be
realistic about the Democrats. They are a major political battalion of
The Enemy. Calling them cowards or weak or stupid obscures this fact.
