Ian:>Post-structuralism is not a monolithic repertoire of work so it simply does not follow that "it's" nonsense.<
Gar:>Post-structuralism may not be monolithic, but it is a school or a
tendency. It is possible to dismiss the entire tendency. <
All or almost all tendencies on the left have something to contribute and can't be rejected out of hand. If nothing else, they can contribute a critique of other schools, though of course that can bog down into academic nonsense.
BTW, how is "post-structuralism" defined? I'm "post-structuralist" since I learned from the Althusserian structuralists without but moved on. But I don't think that's what the term means...
Can someone name the main achievement of one author who has been dubbed "post-structuralist"? It is much better to talk about one specific thing than to go on and on about abstractions such as "post-structuralism."
