While China sells weapons to any country that has cash on the barrel,
this simply indicates its willingness to make a buck rather than make
war. This, of course, is not meant as an endorsement of the Chinese
CP whose relationship to socialism is tangential at best.

I wasn't aware that I was sermonizing when I said that capitalism
breeds war. For those of us who retain a commitment to Marxism, this
idea is not religious but scientific. Whatever else wants to say
about Communist China, it has steered clear of direct aggression
beyond its borders for its entire existence. Of course, there is
always Tibet but they--and the regimes that preceded it--regard it as
Chinese territory.
