Greetings of international solidarity and resistance!

We would like to invite you to participate in LINK ARMS, RAISE FISTS:
U.S. OUT OF THE PHILIPPINES NOW! A NORTH AMERICAN CONFERENCE AND
COALITION LAUNCHING.

LINK ARMS, RAISE FISTS! will be held on July 6-7, 2002 in San
Francisco, California, United States.  The Conference and Coalition
Launching is being initiated by organizations throughout Canada and
the United States, who are concerned with the intensifying deployment
of U.S. military troops in the Philippines and its meaning and impact
for peoples in North America.

Over 4,000 U.S. troops have been deployed to the Philippines to
support the "international war against terrorism".  This is the
largest detachment of U.S. troops aside from the recent 2001-02 U.S.
war operations in Afghanistan.  The Philippines has become the second
"front" in the U.S.-led war against terrorism.  The Philippines is
the strategic center point for launching heightened U.S. imperialist
intervention in the Asia Pacific region.

People's organizations around the world, led by the Filipino people
themselves, have enounced this blatant violation of the national
sovereignty of the Philippines.  They have also exposed Philippine
President Arroyo's puppetry to the U.S. and denounced the impact of
the war on immigrants and peoples in North America.  The new North
American Coalition will work in solidarity with the OUT NOW!
Coalition (Out WITH U.S. TROOPS NOW!) in the Philippines.

As an advocate for the cause of peace and justice against U.S.
intervention, we hope that you will consider participating in this
significant North American event.  Your participation will strengthen
international resistance against these U.S.-led wars of aggression
and terror.

OBJECTIVES:
1.  To deepen our understanding of U.S. military aggression in the
Philippines as part of globalization and imperialism.
2.  To link U.S. intervention in the Philippines to the impact of the
"war against terrorism" on peoples in North America.
3.  To build a North American network against U.S. military
intervention in the Philippines.
4.  To strengthen the people's resistance against war and imperialism.
