UK tilts again to euro
This article in the Times
Hewitt joins new push for the euro

is a further nuanced signal the UK government is preparing public opinion
to take the UK into the euro.
It is significant that the source has been given first to the Times, a
Murdoch paper. Its popular sister, the Sun, has in the past been virulent
against the euro. But this semi leak is part of New Labour's sophisticated
news management. It has elicited a strong but reasoned and nuanced reply in
the leader column of the Times.
Labour is defusing the Murdoch press, no doubt with the help of some behind
the scenes understandings.
