RE: Re: RE: (Fwd) (Fwd) for Pen & PKT?

The Polanyi Institute was set up by Karl's daughter Kari, who does work
along the lines of her father. There is a Polanyi *Society* that is
dedicated to the work of Karl's brother Michael. They have a newsletter
etc as well. To my knowledge the two brothers never cited one another,
and they have hardly ever been both cited in the same text by anyone. An
interesting, if somewhat forced, exception is a paper in the Am Jl of
Econ and Soc from the last five years, called something like "Tacit
Knowledge and History" or "Personal Knowledge and History" that tries to
combine the emphases of each into a single template. It is interesting,
but then again, why is being related a justification for intellectual
synthesis? If it works it shouldn't matter that they are brothers,
unless of course there is some other aspect to the argument, like they
studied together with a particular teacher or whatever.
