EPI seeks to recruit an experienced economist with demonstrated interest in
the determinants of the distribution of wages and income, the role of
labor-market institutions in economic inequality and employment creation,
international comparisons of labor-market performance, and related topics
in labor economics, for an ongoing program of research. Applicants should
have a record of excellence, including publications in academic and popular
publications and project-management experience, in one of the areas listed
above, and interest in working on the others. Applicants should possess a
Ph.D. in economics or related field and have strong empirical and
econometric skills, including substantial experience analyzing large
microeconomic data sets. A commitment to policy-oriented research is
essential. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishment.
Starting date is September 1, 2001 or earlier.

Washington, DC think-tank has an immediate opening for a Ph.D. level
international and/or industrial organization economist. Candidate should
have demonstrated interest in international trade and/or industrial
organization; a background in development studies may also be useful. The
position will involve research on a wide range of topics related to U.S.
trade and competitiveness issues and policies that can be used to revitalize
U.S. manufacturing industries; a long-term research interest in the
relationships between trade, wages and income distribution in the North and
the South would also be of interest. A commitment to policy-oriented,
empirical research is essential. Candidate should have strong writing skills
with ability to communicate results to non-technical audiences. Position
offers the opportunity to work closely with the full range of actors in the
economic policy arena, including policy makers and the media.

POLICY ANALYST
EPI seeks a Masters-level policy analyst. Position will focus on the
analysis of federal and state policies intended to improve the economic
conditions facing low-income working families. Candidate will work closely
with economists and policy analysts to analyze existing policy ideas and
programs, as well as to conceive new ideas. Candidate will also serve as
liaison between our institute and other (primarily) DC-based organizations.
Program areas of interest include, but are not limited to, TANF, poverty,
EITC, child care and other work supports, wage policies and other labor
market regulations.
Position provides unique opportunity to combine research, policy analysis,
and coalition-building.
Applicants should possess an M.A. in policy analysis, economics, or related
field. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishment.
