RE: RE: Taliban & postmodernism?
you write:>Taliban is a misconstrued label by bush/shrub's pitiful modernist
attempts to roll back the clock to some lost modernist vision of a dominant
hegemonic regime & grand discourse of "freedom" long laughed out of reality
by contradictory repressive and destructive actions taken in the name of
freedom meaning laissez faire rip off of all natural & human resources, damn
the consequences, lets do our American thing now & f*** the rest of the
world, who cares about the future, macho is good. <
this "lost modernist vision" may have been "laughed out of reality" by pen-l
and some other groupings, but it's awfully popular among US citizens these
days (and that's awful). In fact, Bush & Rummy and the rest of the boys seem
dead-set to impose this "lost modernist vision" on the world -- no matter
who ends up being set as dead.
BTW, I now understand the point about Taliban being post-modern. I guess I
misunderstood "post-modern" as having connotations as being "good" in some
way to some people.
