You are all selective pacifists. The USG must behave like the boy scouts, while anything opposing it gets the benefit of assorted apologies, contextualizations, rationalizations, etc. Revolutionaries are allowed to be ruthless, but the USG must observe laws designed for other purposes.
I don't favor the use of violence by the USG or by revolutionaries. When you resort to violence you lose even if you win -- corrupting your ideals, brutalizing your sensibilities, diminishing your potential for good. Like Joseph Conrad, I'm appalled by the immense capacity for hatred and savagery I see lurking just below the surface in every human being including myself. Once you let loose the dogs of your own inner nature, they consume you as readily as your enemies.
