You are, alas, quite right. So often do I find that I'd like to chime into a thread, but that by the time circumstances allow it, the disagreement has come to a stage at which any intervention would appear a choosing of sides in a gladitorial contest.
We simply have to read each generously if we're to make a go of this new medium, I think.
Yes it is wiser for one's own sake to give the benefit of the doubt on the interent until a weakness is clearly established. But rather than hope that the spat has not happened I would suggest trying to analyse the underlying contradiction. Then address it as the problem. Otherwise the intensity of the personal polarization obscures the analysis.
But there was and still is, a contradiction, which of course has its roots in objective reality with its partial and imperfect reflection only, in individuals' minds.
