New Patriotism



I remember during the second world war the teachers had us bring
coins to school, insert them in cards, so that we could
accumulate enough to serve our country by buying savings boods.
Now, the patriotic call is to buy stocks.  The Dow is down by
500, yet this morning NPR is marshalling the troops in order to
talk up the markets.
