"The Fed worked aggressively to meet skyrocketing demand for cash, including pumping billions of dollars into the banking system and sending out extra cash by armored car. The central bank issued an emergency statement promising to meet necessary liquidity demands. Analysts expect more rate cuts to forestall the risk of a recession. Some expect the Fed to cut rates before its Oct.2 meeting "
