If I understand what Warren Christopher, Warren Rudman, Sandy Berger, Bill Kristol, Lawrence Eagleburger, Henry Kissinger and Richard Holbrooke, among others, have been saying in the last twelve to fifteen hours, the Bush administration is planning a regional war against the entire Arab world, with attacks that could reach from Pakistan to Tunisia. I think their aim may be to attempt to take three to to five years to completely restructure the map of North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.
I doubt it: the US has lots of allies in the oil-producing areas -- plus Egypt. Further, this kind of war would likely disrupt world oil supplies, something the US doesn't want.
More likely, these types use big rhetoric to justify a smaller war, say against Afghanistan.
