Pilger on the telly
I'm watching Stanley Fischer assure John Pilger (who's positing the
debt-as-stick argument) that debt is not a problem for the world's poor (all
they need is education and an incorruptible government, after all isn't debt a
good thing when we want something? [beaut analogy, Stan]), and that the IMF
did not support the Suharto regime (and that the 1965 slaughter and the ET
masscare constituted the 'suppression' of 'some rights'). Quite angry he was,
too.
George Monbiot, Vandana Shiva and Susan George get some good words in, too.
Why not abolish the IMF the World Bank and the WTO? concludes Pilger, pointing
at a US military document upon which is quoted 'Only military dominance will
protect American economic dominance'.
*The New Rulers Of The World - A John Pilger Investigation*
If it hasn't turned up on your screens yet, I guess the PBS schedule is the
place to look
Be there or be Blair.
Cheers,
Rob.
