INTERNATIONAL ESSAY COMPETITION FOR
WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY (26 APRIL)
FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
April 26 - the date marking the entry into force of the Convention
establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (the WIPO
Convention) - has been designated as World Intellectual Property Day.
Each year this day will be observed by WIPO and its Member States and
will serve as an opportunity to heighten public awareness about the
role and contribution of intellectual property in the economic,
cultural and social development of all countries.
To celebrate this event, WIPO is holding a World Intellectual
Property Day International Essay Competition. The results of the
competition will be announced on World Intellectual Property Day -
April 26, 2002. All university students interested in the field of
intellectual property are invited to enter the competition.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Evidence of current enrolment in a university program
THEME:
"What does intellectual property mean to you in your daily life?"
LENGTH:
2000 words (maximum)
LANGUAGES:
Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish
DEADLINE:
December 1, 2001
PRIZES:
The prize winners will be selected by an international jury of
intellectual property experts. A prize of 1,000 Swiss Francs will be
awarded for the best essay in each language.
