Re: Foster responds

(I received this in response to J.B. Foster's note, which I forwarded to a
friend and comrade whose identity I prefer to shield from prying,
censorious eyes.)

As for why the Mayan civilisation collapsed, both in Peruvian antiquity and
the Classic period (9th C AD), I can tell you right now: it collapsed
because of a series of intense El Nino events which altered the climate,
caused rainfall and flooding and washed its agriculture away. There is now
conclusive evdience from the climatic record about this. No doubt there was
a Malthusian crisis involved because of over-exploitation of farming,
population pressure etc, but it's basically the climate.

Foster is a fat head who simply doesn't understand anything.

I shd have added, flooding caused the earlier collapse, and probably it was
drought in the classic Mayan collapse, altho I dunno here. Incidentally it
seems clear that El Nino allowed these Lat am civi's to develop in the 1st
place (more temperate climate, more raingall); this is an effect of gradual
change in ocean systems following the collaspe of the last Ice Age; it took
several more millennia after the warm-up for the ocean system to get
restabilised in its modern form, which we are now fucking with CO2. People
have no sense of deep time, but our descendants will abominate us not just
for 7 but for 7k generations for what we have done.

This is a most important discussion and we are crushing, decimating the
opposition. Hurrah! Onwards! Slava Revolyutsiya!
