It's only about five minutes ago that you were telling us that this was
impossible and could never happen:
I'm simply saying that worrying about what will happen if everyone in
the world gets to "to live at current North American ecological
standards (say 4.5 ha/person)" under capitalism is _absurd_, since
it's _not_ going to happen.<<

It's impossible to modernize industry & agriculture globally _under
capitalism_, but _under socialism_ it is possible. BTW, to modernize
industry & agriculture is not the same as to "live at current North
American ecological standards," with each family owning or striving
to own not just one but two, three, or more cars, the bigger the
better, driving to work, shop, play, do anything. The USA is
inefficient.
