Brazil energy march turns violent

By Tom Gibb in Sao Paulo

I've never watched Oprah for more than a minute, but I've heard that we should thank our lucky stars that people watch it rather than the alternatives. Maybe there aren't any riots in California about the energy emergency (and what good would riots do?), but you'll be glad to know that most Californians do not see the "crisis" as "real" but as being due to manipulation of the market by Enron, et al. According to the L.A. TIMES poll, 74 percent of Californians agree that "independent power companies have manipulated the electricity market in California to make a higher profit." It's good to see them being smart for a change.
