Au contraire. This is a bait:

So is this:
"If Louis is so sensitive that he can't respond to a comment that says he's wrong on a highly specific empirical issue, he should leave the list."
But, as I say, those sorts of remarks roll off me like water off a duck's back.

Jim's remarks are general ones. Substitute proper names -- say, switch them from Louis to Philip -- and the principles that govern netiquette still stand. There's no reason to be paranoid about this. That said, it would probably have been better if Jim had used X instead of your name. As I said, I'm sympathetic to Foucault's longing for anonymity.
