      The explanation for why the administration wants

afraid distressingly simple.  They want to pay off the
military industrial complex along with the oil and coal
companies.

       BTW, there was a front page article in the Sunday
Washington Post to the effect that the lower level
appointments in the Bush administration, the undersecretaries,
and such like, are almost uniformly hard right.  The rap is
that the Bush administration is now turning out to be
considerably further to the right of the Reagan administration.
People like Weyrich and Norquist are crowing in their beer.
       The only moderates appear to be Transportation
Secretary Mineta, the only Demagogue besides faith baser,
DeIulio, EPA Administrator Whitman, who has been put
down on CO2, and the increasingly pathetic looking
Colin Powell who apparently tried to block the unconscionable
sand bagging of South Korea's Kim Dae Jung.  The same
paper's lead story was about how the EU is trying to pick
up the pieces on inter-Korean negotiations given the US
having dropped the ball totally.  Everybody is saying it is
Rumsfeld, Cheney, and the mil-ind complex that needs
North Korea as a "rogue state" to justify the NMD.
