I still wonder why Gore couldn't even carry his home state.

CB: I believe all the old Confederate states went for Bush ( "except" Florida, sort of) . One main explanation is racism prevailed in Tennessee.  There was a sense that Black people were going to vote for Gore, so the racists went the other way.
