There are usually a couple of professors murdered each year, where their attack has something to do with their professional duties. Usually it's a disgruntled graduate student.
Some grad student at Berkeley sent a copy to his own Ph.D. advisor of an article about the Stanford Math student who hammered his own advisor to death, as a hint about the need to speed up the process.
