UMKC Black Studies Director
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Director of Black Studies
University of Missouri-Kansas City invites applications for: Director of the
College of Arts and Sciences Black Studies Program. Rank of the director will
be Associate Professor or higher and tennable in an appropiate department. The
position will be a joint appointment with the field of specialization open.
Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching required. Leadership
experience in the development of academic and community-based programing is also
highly desirable.
Teaching responsibilities include the "Introduction to African American Studies"
course and other courses in the applicants field(s) of study. The successful
candidate will coordinate program offerings for its 18-hour minor, facilitate
collaborative program building, and develop strong UMKC-community partnerships.
A record of successful support for scholarship is preferred. UMKC is a dynamic
urban institution located in the heart of the city with a diverse student
population of more than 13,000.
