there was a story last night on US National Public Radio about the crisis
of the emergency rooms at hospitals in Massachusetts (where data was most
available). Not only was it due to the lack of funding for ERs -- but
because they weren't willing to pay nurses, doctors, etc. enough, given the
relative ease of getting a job these days.
BTW, I doubt that the folks who produce the TV show "ER" will use this
study as grist for one of their plots.
